Part of the sum spent by Kisrókus most likely ended up with companies owned by Zoltán Bessenyei, a former board member of the State Privatization and Holding Rt. (ÁPV) who was convicted for his involvement in a fraudulent consulting deal lawyer Márta Tocsik made with the ÁPV in the mid- 1990s. Bessenyei’s companies and Budapest-based Főmterv Rt. were part owners with Kisrókus of close to one-third of the three-hectare park, requiring ministry-owned Kisrókus to consult with them on every move in the park’s development plan.
However, the 5,600-square meter area the Peter Green Playground occupies in Millenáris Park is still a subject of agreement between the state and its current owner. Currently Millenáris Kht., the public benefit company that operates Millenáris Park, rents the area from Apisolato Hungary Kft., while the State Treasury Department is looking for suitable real estate to offer to Apistolato for a trade.
Meanwhile, the planned sale of the 4,000-square meter building “A” of the former Ganz Electric Works, adjacent to the current area of the Millenáris Park, is about to end. Seven real estate companies have shown interest for the property, and some are rumored to be ready to pay more than HUF 800 million the state hopes to sell it for.
The financial situation of Kisrókus is likely to be helped by a recent decision of the National Tax Office (Apeh). HVG has learned that Apeh is ready to forgive Kisrókus HUF 1 billion in tax penalty for Kisrókus’s unlawful VAT reclaim between 2000 and 2002.
