All girls in the database were reported to be adults, and were willing to prostitute themselves. They paid €100 a day to the woman who ran the business in Florence.
Similarly to Hungarian law, Italian law punishes those who encourage prostitution – who manage networks or maintain properties used for prostitution – while those adults who willingly offer their body cannot be punished. Besides the Hungarian matchmaker woman, two Italian men also are charged in connection with the case. They are believed to provide the high-quality apartments in Florence where the Hungarian women received their men guests for fees ranging between €100 and €1,000. The women have lived in Italy with student or work permits, and have come into contact with the network through newspaper ads in Budapest.
According to HVG information, Hungarian Police last November arrested several members of a criminal network sending women for prostitute work to Italy.
