Tamas Molnar, one of the leaders of the Kossuth ter demonstrations, told hvg.hu that Orban would not deliver a speech on the square before parliament. Earlier, there had been rumours that Viktor Orban would head to the square this evening.

The Group for a New Hungary (the group of demonstrators led by the architect Imre Makovecz) would not be able to divide demonstrators, Molnar said, since everyone would head to the National Committee's stage. The remainder of the evening would be filled with cultural events hosted by Matyas Usztics.

There had been rumours that the Group for a New Hungary had invited Viktor Orban to give a speech on Kossuth ter at nine o'clock in the evening.

HVG.hu asked Andras Cser-Palkovics, Fidesz's deputy spokesperson about the rumours. He said he was unaware of any such plans.

Our reporter on the scene said Orban's campaign bus appeared in front of the party's House of Citizens headquarters, with many bystanders taking this as proof of Orban's presence. Despite this, there was little sign of life inside the building.

Mihaly Varga, the party's deputy chairman, who was responsible for the election campaign, was also unaware of any such rumours. The politician would not rule out the possibility of other Fidesz MPs heading for the square.
